Weather Update

The East coast is slowly recovering from the damage done by Hurricane Sandy. With power outages and flooding still a fundamental problem for most shoreline states, Beacon Falls and Prospect were some of the luckier towns hit by the hurricane. Even with power outages and trees down, no one in the Region 16 area was harmed during the hurricane.

For states in trouble such as New York and New Jersey that were hit hard by the hurricane a break in the weather would be ideal for a quick recovery. However, a nor’easter is rapidly approaching.

The nor’easter, predicted to hit on Wednesday and Thursday of this week according to WTNH.com, may frighten a lot of people. The fear of losing power and flooding posing a threat to their health and safety, but The Weather Channel has indicated that this nor’easter will be nowhere close to as bad as Hurricane Sandy. For Region 16 there is a chance of rain and strong gusts of wind reaching up to 50 mph on Wednesday and Thursday. While not predicted to be as devastating as Sandy, residents are cautioned to prepare for minor power outages, and for those already without power, be mindful of the temperature which may dip into the low 20’s.
