Valentine Grams

Sarah Parker

“Ur Kind,” “Love You,” “All Mine,” “Hug Me,” These different sayings may seem familiar from the popular candy hearts found in almost every store around Valentine’s Day.
As Valentine’s Day nears, students are thinking about their crushes and sweethearts.
The Junior Class has decided to sell valentine grams to admirers searching for the perfect gift for their crushes!
These valentine grams are paper hearts with a personal, sincere message printed on them from the admirer, almost as a mock candy heart. Each card also includes a small, Valentine’s Day keychain.
The same fundraiser was held for Valentine’s Day in 2010. The junior class officers said it was very successful two years ago, which is why they decided to repeat it.
The officers hope this fundraiser will help to involve everyone in the Valentine’s Day festivities, instead of just the couples. A student doesn’t have to buy a Valentine gram for his or her crush only; he or she can choose a friend, or even a teacher, to receive the valentine gram.
The class of 2013 hopes that these fun, surprise cards will help Valentines Day be more enjoyable for the entire school.
Class officers will be selling the valentine grams during lunch from February 7th to February 13th. Each valentine gram is fifty cents each. This price was set to give all students the opportunity to buy a valentine gram at an inexpensive price, a student’s pocket change.
The valentine grams are scheduled to be delivered during advisory on Valentine’s Day, February 14th.
All proceeds of this fundraiser will go to the Class of 2013. The class officers explained that this money will help the class pay for its Junior Picnic, Holiday Hill day, Prom, and other inspiring ideas for class activities.
So buy a gram and support your fellow classmates on a special day of the year.
