The Devil Inside

The Devil Inside

By Jordan Tolnay

The newest fad movie is, The Devil Inside. This movie combines horror and religion into one. With people raging to see the new horror, the predictions were that the movie was going to be the scariest movie of the year. “I expect it is going to be scary and for me to have nightmares.” Says Sophomore Rachel Starkey.

The movie was a low-budget film raising suspicion as to the quality, but curiosity got to people. The movie had $34.5 million dollars this opening weekend. $15 million came in from the opening night alone, according to Fandango.com.

Although many people suspected it would be a great movie, they might not have gotten what they had suspected. The “fans” rated the movie a two out of 5, according to Fandango.com. “I didn’t like it, the only scary parts are in the previews and they just want you to go see it.” Says Mathew Spoffard of the movie. When he says “they” it is referring to the producers that made the trailers and supplied the money for the movie.

What was even more interesting was the comments that were left by the people who saw the movie. Instead of the fans they sound more like critics, saying that the was shaky and it bared resemblance to The Blair Witch project (another horror film, but much older). “I thought it was going to be good like a really scary movie like insidious that was a scary movie.” Says Spofford. People were let down by the movie in general.
