Uconn Wins National Title

The final chapter in Uconn’s Cinderella story was written Monday the fourth.

Junior Kemba Walker and the rest of the Huskies defeated the Butler Bulldogs with a score of 53-41.

The Huskies played 40 minutes of intense basketball with one goal in mind. That goal was to win the national championship.

Many would think that Walker would have carried his team but Sophomore Alex Oriakhi was one of the games top performers with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks.

Those 11 points were critical to Uconn’s success.

The game was one of the worst displays of basketball in NCAA history. The rims were unforgiving and no shots would drop.

Butler went 12-for-64 shooting, either it was Uconn’s extremely tight defense or Butler just wasn’t ready to win a game.

Either way the Huskies came out on top and brought the trophy back home to Storrs, Connecticut.

The last time Uconn brought home a trophy was in 2004 when they defeated Georgia Tech. This team was lead by Emeka Okafor and Ben Gordon who both are now playing in the NBA.

As for next year the Huskies are looking just as strong. After only graduating one key player Walker, the Huskies are going to be depending on Freshman guard Jeremy Lamb and Oriakhi.

As for now the future looks bright for the Uconn men basketball team, teams better watch out for the Huskies next year cause their coming back bigger and better.
