Sophomore Salem Trip Canceled

Sophomore Salem Trip has been tried and hung at the stake. Unfortunately, this year’s Sophomore class trip to Salem will be canceled.

Mr. Decker, advisor to the Salem tour, just did not have enough time to coordinate the trip.

“Mr. Palladino and I usually plan the event together, but since he no longer is teaching, it has been hard for me to find enough time to pull it together myself since I also have to run the history club,” said Decker.
Time wasn’t the only problem in planning this trip. Ms. Block, who teaches sophomore history at Woodland, advised that since The Crucible isn’t included in the English college prep curriculum anymore, not all sophomores can appreciate the true meaning of the trials.
However, many sophomores were really looking forward to this trip. The day long visit involves watching interesting reenactments of trials, visiting victims’ cemeteries and even taking in some Salem shopping.
The trip generally takes place every other year, and Woodland has traveled to Salem three times to date. Mr. Decker hopes that in the future other teachers will be able to step up and plan the trip again.
