In 2009 the New England Patriots season ended abruptly, while they lost 33-14 against the Baltimore Ravens who were a lower seeded team than them.
However, that was last season and this season the Patriots are looking to do what they are expected and known to do, which is to win a Super Bowl. But, with an aging number one wide receiver Randy Moss, an injured Wes Welker and Tom Brady still ailing from his knee injury from two seasons ago, the Patriots have some little things to worry about.
The Patriots won the AFC East last year with a 10-6 record so despite the injuries, they still believe that they are capable of having a successful season.
The Patriots 2010 season will not be easy though, having to play against seven playoff teams which include the Bengals, Vikings, Ravens, Packers, Colts, Chargers and the newly made New York Jets twice who made the AFC championship game last year.
Experienced Head Coach, Bill Belichick has led the Patriots to three super bowls in four years in the 21st century going back to Super Bowl XXXVI, Super Bowl XXXVIII, and Super Bowl XXXIX. This year he will look to win one in the second decade of the 21st century.
Though the Patriots have not made many off season moves for key players, they feel that after making the playoffs last year with their current stars such as three time Super Bowl quarterback Tom Brady, future Hall of Fame wide receiver, Randy Moss and their top five NFL defense that they will get the job done.
No matter how brutally the Patriots 2009 season ended, there is one thing that Patriot fans can count on. Behind the work of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, the Patriots will definitely be a contender this year.
