Woodland Dance Team Ranked Second in the State

The Woodland Regional High School Dance team competed in the Connecticut State Competition in the Small Jazz and Kickline divisions on Saturday, March 27.

After a day of twirls, leaps and some fist pumps here and there, 46 teams from around the state danced their hearts out for a plaque and medals to bring home.

The Lady Hawks brought home second place in the Kickline division. Each dancer recieved a medal and the school now holds the second place plaque, in the shape of the state of Connecticut.

Even though the girls did not recieve any materialistic prize for the Small Jazz division, they did accomplish a great achievement- scoring a 173 out of 200 on their overall routine. This is highest score the girls have ever recieved in a dance competition.

Senior Captain, Taylor Byrne, was extremely proud of her teammates and had only positive thoughts on this important day.

“I am really proud about how the team performed on Saturday. We gave it our all and I could not have asked for a better team,” said Byrne. “This was the best performance we have given all year and I am so proud of our second place finish.”
